Charles Harrington Taylor

Charles Harrington Taylor passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018. Charlie was born in 1948 in Wilmington, DE. His parents were the Honorable Clarence W. Taylor and Janet Grubb Taylor.

Charlie attended P.S DuPont High School and the University of Delaware. From 1979 to 1999, he happily lived on the ocean just south of Dewey beach. He was an avid surf fisherman and also enjoyed crabbing, clamming and boating. For 20 years, he hosted a fall party at the beach house signifying the end of the summer season. Each year all of his friends would look forward attending this “end of summer” bash and playing volleyball.

In 1999, he moved to Georgetown, DE to get away from the “tourists” because the “beach season” had become all year long. For many years, Charlie was a member of Milford bowling league and enjoyed the camaraderie with his friends, bowling several times each week.

Charlie loved animals and had a succession of dogs; spoiling them was the focal point of every day. Those of you who knew Charlie may remember his dogs Tasha, Lori, Ciri, Fu or Kay. He loved long walks on the beach with his dogs all year no matter what the weather.

Charlie had a unique way of looking at the world through the lens of a funny, quirky sense of humor. He enjoyed a good joke. Charlie was a loyal friend and brother and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his brothers C. W. “Rod” Taylor and Jonathan B. Taylor, their wives Barbara Taylor and Leslie Carboni Taylor, nephew Case M. Taylor and niece Jenna M. Taylor.

Services will be private.

    Kevin Jornlin writes,
Taylor Family, I was very sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I have great early memories of him at the house in Dewey, and think I attended that end of summer bash a few times. Ciri is the dog I remember, and Charlie was such a fun and caring owner! He was a gracious host. I am grateful he was in my life and will miss him. Sincerely, Kevin Paul

    Dan Baccino & Peggy writes,
It was always a pleasure to see Charlie whenever we would show up at the same places ... Which was many times throughout the years. If you were lucky enough to be next to Charlie ... when he let loose with a barely audible quip about something going on in the room ... You were blessed with hilarious comments although sometimes not socially correct ... We were also lucky enough to be present at his legendary beach parties ... Hi Jon ... Our prayers are with you and the family ... Hope we see you someplace this year ... Dan&Peggy
