Blake Bayley, age 66, died peacefully on April 6, 2020 at the Christiana Hospital.
Blake was born in 1953, in Darby, Pennsylvania, the youngest of three brothers. Blake was raised in Aldan, PA and graduated from Lansdowne Aldan High School in 1971. Blake spent most of his career as a Master Electrician, working for the Philadelphia Electric Company and its successors since 1972.
Blake met his wife Reneé in 1972, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and they were married in 1974. In 1978, Blake and Reneé moved to the village of Ardencroft, Delaware where they raised their family. Blake was active in his community. He was known around town as a dependable handyman, generous and kindhearted. He served on the Public Works and Safety Committees and many residents called upon his skills to repair and service their lawn equipment and snow blowers. He helped maintain some of the town’s paths and parks and every time there was a heavy snow, he was out there clearing the street for his neighbors.
Blake’s greatest pastimes included riding his Harley Davidson and visiting the Bayley family’s summer property beside Bantam Lake in Morris, Connecticut. Motorcycles were one of Blake’s loves since he was a young man. For several years, Blake and some friends would participate in Laconia Motorcycle Week. But the lake cottages, originally owned by his father, were part of Blake’s life since he was a boy and always represented a special place. When the responsibility of the property was passed on to Blake and his brothers, Blake cared for the property lovingly, repairing something almost every time he was up there.
Blake is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Margaret, and survived by his wife Reneé, his brothers Tom (Rena) and John (Donna), his two children, Amanda Matthews (Brian) and Edward, and his granddaughter Ava Matthews. He also leaves behind six nieces and nephews and their respective families.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Blake’s name be made to the American Cancer Society.
