During the 1960s and 1970s, Anne dedicated her life to raising her two children and always being there for their many activities. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Kennett Square. In addition to attending services there for many years, she enjoyed volunteering in the children’s nursery. In 1981, with her children raised and out of the house, Anne began a rewarding career volunteering many hours over 40 years for the Hockessin Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary remaining a member until her passing.
Anne enjoyed being outside in warm weather tending to her yard, planting flowers, and taking long vigorous walks. She was a bridge player and loved playing solitaire. Anne spent many years during July vacationing with her family at Pocono Lake. In later years, countless summer hours were spent with family at her niece’s pool. Anne’s greatest passion was her lifelong love of baseball watching and cheering on the Phillies.
In addition to her husband and parents, Anne was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane T. Myers and all her siblings, Leedom Smith, Jane Berube, Louise Walker, and Robert Smith.
She is survived by her son, James Thompson of Hockessin, her grandsons, Robert Thompson and Michael Thompson, and many nieces and nephews.
