Anne A. Potter

Anne A. Potter, age 95, of Hockessin, Delaware, formerly of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died peacefully on August 15, 2018 at Seasons Hospice in Christiana, Delaware.

Anne was born in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel and Julia (Potaczek) Kowalczyk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Potter; brothers Robert, John, and Edward; and sisters Roseann and Evelyn.

Anne is survived by her son David and his wife Sharon of Hockessin, DE; her sister Helen Sanok of Merrillville, IN; grandchildren James Cook (Gailmarie) of Newark, DE, Kathryn Potter of Medford, MA, and Thaddeus Potter of Arlington, VA; as well as her three great-grandchildren Lucas, Matthew and Noah Cook; and many nieces and nephews.

Until her retirement in 1989, Anne was a sales clerk at J.C. Penney for 29 years, working at stores in Gary, IN; Kankakee, IL; and Fayetteville, AR.

She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the Ladies Lions Club. She enjoyed YMCA aqua-aerobic classes, and dancing at post-Cana events. She especially loved working in flower gardens and spending time with her family, both near and far.

Visitation will be held on Saturday August 25, 2018 at 9:30 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 10 Johnson Road, Newark, DE 19713. Anne’s funeral service will be held following visitation, at 10:30 am. She will be buried at a later date with her beloved husband John in Fayetteville, AR.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Anne’s name to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Community Garden Project, 10 Johnson Road, Newark, DE 19713.
