Anna Muldowney of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the age of 88.
Born Anna Puntigam in Feldbach, Austria in 1935, she was the only child of Frank and Marianne Puntigam. On February 6, 1958, Anna and her parents arrived in the United States. While In Feldbach, Austria Anna excelled in beautician school and had a career as a hairstylist in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
In 1959, Anna met Jack Mudlwoney and they had their first date on Groundhog Day. They shared 54 years of marital bliss. Anna was a distinguished artist. She enjoyed painting scenes, decorating cakes and enjoyed painting ceramic Christmas Santa Claus figurines and gifting them to family and friends. Anna treasured all her friends especially the ceramic group from the Sellers Senior Center.
Anna enjoyed hosting all family holiday dinners and other occasions. All family and friends enjoyed her many holiday decorations.
Anna’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren supporting all their school and sports activities. She was thrilled to be a part of Anthony and Jina, and Kirsten and Andrew’s wedding ceremony. Nana was so proud of Jillian graduating from LaSalle University and following all her dreams.
Anna is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Marianne Puntigam, her loving husband, John (Jack) Muldowney, Sr., her son, John (Jackie) Muldowney, Jr., and daughter, Sharen A. Muldowney.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Campanella and her husband Paul. “Nana” was cherished by her grandchildren, Anthony Campanella (Jina); Kirsten Thompson (Andrew) and Jillian Campanella. Great “Nana” to Dominic and Elliana Campanella, and Everett and Bryce Thompson. Anna is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Anna’s name to St. Helena’s Catholic Church or to the Delaware Humane Association.
