Angelina Melori Saraga, age 90, of Wilmington, Delaware, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Angelina graduated from Claymont High School in 1952, where she held the prestigious title of class Treasurer, was a member of the field hockey team, and a gun twirler in the marching band. Upon graduation, Angelina worked as an executive secretary at the Dupont Edgemoor Plant. She entered the Miss Delaware Beauty Pageant and earned the title of Miss Congeniality of 1956.
Angelina met and married “the boy across the street,” Edward J. Saraga, on October 26, 1963. Together they built a family and a life that they loved. Angelina worked dutifully alongside her husband to ensure the smooth operation of Saraga Builders.
Angelina lived a life of simplicity. She put everything in “His hands” and was a devout Roman Catholic. She was completely devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She enjoyed the outdoors, the occasional casino trip, and spending time with her family.
Angie especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and family, whether it was a festive Christmas dinner or time spent at home in Wilmington, or at West Palm to Rehoboth.
Angelina was preceded in death by her parents; Giuseppe Melori and Lillian DeMartine Melori; her husband of 48 years, Edward J. Saraga; and her twin sister Loraine M. Ward. Angelina is survived by her loving daughters; Letitia “Tish” S. Farrell and Deborah Saraga; and her devoted grandchildren Angela Farrell, Michael Farrell, And Maximus Morrison.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:30 am at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
