It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew James McConnell, age 26, of Wilmington, Delaware on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
The beloved son of Linda and Paul McConnell, Andrew was born in Wilmington, DE. He attended Ursuline Academy, St. Edmonds Academy, and Salesianum High School. He was previously employed as a tenant coordinator for 1313 Innovation Center and was an assistant property manager for McConnell Development.
Andrew enjoyed anything fast – exotic cars, jets, motorcycles, four wheeling and roller coasters. He was an avid researcher, collector and investor. Andrew always knew a little bit about everything and if he didn’t, he would convince you he did. He had a unique sense of humor, a special laugh, and a smile that was genuine. Most of all, he was a kind, sweet, caring young man who loved spending time with his family and his rabbit. We will cherish many family memories made over the years in Ocean City, MD and Florida, the Eagles Superbowl win in Minnesota, and recent trips to the Carribean. Andrew will be dearly missed every single day of our lives. Rest easy our love – until we meet again.
In addition to his parents, Andrew is survived by his siblings: Sean, Michael, Matthew, Timothy and Megan; his maternal grandmother Sandra Salem; his aunts and uncles Suzanne Lizzul (Norman), Diane Herr (Ed), James Rowe, Jr. (Donna), Daniel McConnell, Sr. (Joanna); his nephew Alistair McConnell; his second mother, Paula Williams; his cousins and friends. He is predeceased by grandfathers Harvey A. Salem and James M. Rowe, Sr., and his grandmother Maryann Barrett. We are comforted knowing he is now in the arms of these dear departed loved ones.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE 19807. Interment will follow the mass in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Limen Recovery & Wellness, P.O. Box 1306, Wilmington, DE 19899 or to Faithful Friends Animal Society, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.
