Mona LaMerle Lippincott

Mona LaMerle Lippincott, nee Davidson, passed away on November 3, 2022 due to complications from Alzheimer’s. She was 87 years old.

Born and raised in Jasper, Alabama, Mona graduated from Walker County High School. A natural leader, she was Editor of the school newspaper and state debate champion. She also earned a B.A. degree with honors from the University of Delaware in Spanish and mathematics.

In 1955, Mona married Stanley Lippincott, whose job at the DuPont Company required the family to move every few years. She and her family lived in Alabama, Maryland, Minnesota, and Wilmington, Delaware. Mona especially loved the chance to live in in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she made many friends, and learned to speak Portuguese fluently.

After moving back to Wilmington in the 70’s, Mona began a decades-long and successful career in real estate, working for B. Gary Scott, Gilpin Realty, and Patterson Schwartz. She was an avid bridge player, and loved to entertain friends and family. An excellent cook, Mona enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren how to make her favorite southern dishes, as well as ethnic dishes from her many travels across the world.

Mona is survived by her children Alisa and Steve, her grandchildren Aaron and Kina, and brother Mirt, Roderick, and Charles, and her partner of many years, James Tubbs, who passed away in November, 2021.

    Mary Keane writes,
I just happened to learn of Mona's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. We worked together for many years at Patterson Schwartz real estate. She was an exceptional agent and person. We spent many minutes outside smoking and discussing work, family and world issues. We lost touch after Mona retired, but her name still comes up in conversation among the long time agents. She was a lovely, elegant woman. Mary Keane
