Jeffrey B. Bove Jr

Jeff Bove Jr, age 43, died on November 18, 2022, in Los Angeles, California.

Jeff was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1979. He graduated from the Tatnall School in Wilmington Delaware and attended St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

In 2001, Jeff decided to relocate and he packed up his old Saab and drove by himself from Pennsylvania to Los Angeles to build a new life. He attended El Camino College and Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles.

At an early age, Jeff gravitated to basketball. He trained, practiced and played twelve months a year, attending the Dean Smith Camp at UNC, playing in the AAU and Sonny Hill summer leagues, and starting for Tatnall. He played JV ball at St. Joseph’s.
Our fondest memories are attending 76er/Chicago Bulls playoff games at the Spectrum with Barkley and Jordan, and later watching Lakers games at the Staples Center with Kobe and Shaq.

Jeff was an incredible poet and writer, and a kind and gentle person. He had a unique and uplifting sense of humor. Once when asked what his life’s plan was, he smiled and said he was “still resting from high school”.

Jeff fought the good fight.

Jeff is predeceased by his sister, Hannah Bove, and his grandparents, Januar D Bove Jr and Lillian Briggs Bove, and Elwyn Evans Jr and Jane Stabler Evans. He is survived by his parents, Jeffrey B Bove and Carol Lloyd Bove, and his brother, Charles Ramsay Bove.

A service will be held at a later date.

    Mike Shepherd writes,
Mr and Mrs Bove I am so sorry to hear of Jeff’s passing. I thought of him often through the years as he was such a joy to coach. He gave so much to the game of basketball with his passion and hard work. He was definitely an inspiration to me and others
