Virginia G. Rogers

Virginia Jennings Grant Rogers, 75, died at her home in Wilmington DE surrounded by loved ones on October 15, 2022. Known for her irreverent humor, compassion for others, and elegant style, she brought joy and laughter to the lives of many people. She was a devout Democrat, Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and proud member of the AA community.

Gini was born in Pittsburgh PA to Elizabeth Jennings Grant and John S. Grant. After graduating from Fontbonne Academy she attended the Tobe Coburn School of Fashion Careers in New York City, and worked as a buyer for Macy’s. Gini subsequently worked for many years as an employment consultant for Snelling and Snelling and Everett Kelley Associates in Philadelphia. Her compassion and people skills later led her to the elder care field where she was Director of Marketing for Sunrise Assisted Living, Lodge Lane, and Ivy Gables. She also served for many years on the Board of Directors of Limen House, Inc. Limen House was very dear to her heart and as an alumna she credited it with saving her life. In return she mentored many Limen House clients to help them find their way to a better life.

Gini was predeceased by her parents as well as her sisters, Elizabeth Grant Murdoch and Susan Grant Nicolella. She is survived by her beloved granddaughter Ashley Rogers Morrison and family, former husband Raymond H. Rogers, Jr. and family, cherished nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. Gini was lovingly cared for during her illness by her dear friends Ann Udovich, Rachel Goorland, and Anne Cavanaugh.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. A celebration of Gini’s life will be held at 11:30 AM at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803.

Donations in Gini’s memory can be made to Limen Recovery+Wellness, 600 W. 10th St., Wilmington DE, 19801.

Funeral Services
