Lillian (Lee) Marinelli

Lillian (Lee) Marinelli, 93, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2021 in her home at The Summit.

She was born in Baltimore, MD in 1927 to the late James and Marie Myer. She lived a full life as a dedicated mother and homemaker. Her family knew her as a gentle soul who found the good in every situation. She loved her family and took great pride in her grandchildren. She always ended a call or said goodbye with an “I love you”. She had a vivacious personality and always had a joke ready to tell to keep people around her laughing. She spoke kindly with a smile and made a friend wherever she went. Lee belonged to several groups (POST CANA & RED HATS) and was a master card player who loved playing bridge and pinochle. She also loved to reuse and repurpose. She could find an old table and chairs on the side of the road, refinish, and sell the final product…..or it ended up in someone’s home who wanted it. If there was a party to attend, she was the best dressed at the event in all her sparkles and bling. Whether it was a costume, holiday, or black-tie event, she was the life of a party and definitely liked to show up last so she could make a grand entrance.

Lee was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas (Nick) Marinelli in 1986 and her beloved companion of 29 years Edwin (Ed) Lieb in 2015. She also had a lifelong love affair with chocolate and cookies. She is survived by her children Donna Patille (Tommy), Michael Marinelli (Kristi), Mark Marinelli (Maryvonne). She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren Lisa Daniello (Jeff), Stephanie Marinelli, Lindsay Marinelli and Michael Marinelli and 5 great grandchildren.

Lee is safely home in heaven with our Lord and many loved ones.

Burial will be private and in lieu of flowers, donations in Lee’s name will be gratefully accepted at the Sunday Breakfast Mission, 1101 N. Poplar Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19801.

Donna, Way back in the day our parents were good friends who enjoyed time together playing pinochle, socializing at the Ashbourne Swim Club and celebrating at various holiday parties. And we hung out together, especially as the pool. I am sorry for your loss. May your mother rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing.

Ted & Ann Wilson lit a candle and writes,
The candle we lit represents Lee's ability to light up a room whenever she walked in. We send our love to Donna, Mike, Mark, and their families. It is ironic that we just ran into Mike in Hockessin just a couple of weeks ago after having lost touch for way too long. When any of you have the chance, we hope to hear from you so that we can catch up.
