    Luke Prescott writes,
Billy was my oldest childhood friend. The summer after 4th grade, my family moved to Waynoka Circle and I was anxious about leaving all my old friends behind. The anxiety quickly disappeared ! Billy met the moving van as it pulled into the neighborhood. Once he realized there was a boy nearly his age in the new family, he immediately dragged me down the street to join the other guys for a baseball game in the Willis' front yard. It was the first of thousands of baseball, football, basketball, and "Army" games in the nearby woods, creeks, tracks and front yards. They filled my childhood with a fun "Wonder Years" quality and Billy always led the way. --- He was generally the most talented & smartest player (nobody could ever stop Billy as he drove for a left-handed layup at "The Morrison Basketball Arena" - with it's 10 inch step UP from the patio to the driveway just before the basket). --- As an adult, I was able to re-new my friendship with Billy & meet Gay when I was passing thru Wilmington in the 80's. He was still the same great guy that I knew from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I wish I had stayed in touch. I was pleased to hear that Jean Anne was able to help Billy enjoy his 50th East High reunion. I felt an ache when I read that Billy had passed away. I can only imagine the pain that Gay, Karen, Jean Anne and the family are feeling. I send my deepest condolences.

I worked for Bill’s father in Memphis beginning in 1950. Bill was an infant then and his dad was so proud of him. I am sure he was the same type man as his dad who was a very nice gentleman. My sympathy to all the family.
