Joseph F. Campanella, age 86 of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital.
Born to the late Joseph Campanella and Irene Ulitsky Campanella (Camp), in Jersey City, New Jersey, Joe and his family also lived in Pennsylvania prior to settling in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from Wilmington High School, University of Delaware, and Widener University.
Joe retired from FMC Corporation after a successful 40+ year career as a pharmaceutical and food products research engineer.
Joe was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty, in September 2017 after 62 years of marriage. Joe is survived by his six children: daughter Patricia L. Nichols and her husband Michael of Corona, CA; son Joseph W. Campanella and his wife Renee of Marina Del Ray, CA; son Paul F. Campanella and his wife Karen A. of Wilmington; son John A. Campanella and his wife Cindy of Newark, Delaware; daughter Elizabeth C. Beaver and her husband Leon J. of Wilmington; and son James C. Campanella of Wilmington.
He will be missed by his grandchildren: Adam M. Nichols; Sarah P. Lavia and her husband Matt A.; Joseph J. Campanella; Anthony P., Kirsten A., and Jillian A. Campanella; Mark A. and Jaclyn E. Campanella; Michael G. and David P. Beaver; and Katlyn M. and James C. Campanella.
Joe is also survived by his sister, Maryangelina S. Campanella of Surfside Beach, S.C.; his brother-in-law, Paul E. Brown of Wilmington; and three nieces and nephews and their families.
The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care provided by everyone at Christiana Care Health System, Griswold Home Care, and Bayada Home Health Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church located at 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE 19807. Friends may call an hour before Mass at 9:30am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church. Interment will be at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church Cemetery immediately following Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Joe’s memory to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road Newark, DE 19713.
