Kathleen Rutz Albert

Kathleen R. Albert, 96, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and faith.

Kathleen was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania as the only child of Charles J. and Grace E. (Reinhard) Rutz. She met the love of her life Bill while out with friends. Their attraction was instant, and they were married for fifty-eight years before he passed in 2006. Together they raised a family of five children. Providing their children unconditional love, Kathleen was always available to listen and assist them with the difficulties of life.  She delighted in their accomplishments and shared their sorrows. A child of Kathleen never felt alone.

Kathleen was an involved grandmother and great-grandmother.  When the children were young, she would get down on the floor to play with them up until her early 90’s. She enjoyed doing artwork with the grandkids and made up fun games for them to play. In the summer, Bill and Kathleen relished attending many Phillies games with family.

Known for her warm and engaging personality, each child felt incredibly loved and wanted when they spent time with her.  Her welcoming and caring presence gave happiness to many.

At the end of her life, she was surrounded by her loving family. They wished to give a little back to the woman who had given them so much over the years.

Kathleen is predeceased by her husband William S. Albert and son Robert S. (Bobby) Albert. She is survived by her four children: Nancy Halbedl, Patricia Strocko (Raymond), Gail Jusiewicz (Robert), and Richard Albert (Taryn), her seven grandchildren: Grace, Michael, James, Andrew, Stephanie, Ashton, and Ainsley, and her eight great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Robert, Annie, Daniel, Laurel, Roman, Elodie, and Luke.  She will be deeply missed by all whose lives were touched by her, but her kindness, love, and compassion will long endure.

Growing up on Ashford Road across from the Albert’s, I have wonderful memories of Mrs. Albert and the entire family. Mrs. Albert was always welcoming, warm, caring, nurturing and loving. I remember sitting at the kitchen table and talking about anything and everything. I remember sitting with Bobby in my lap playing Pat a Cake and other fun action songs. I remember coming home from college and running across the street to get caught up on all that was going on. I developed a love of baseball and the Phillies because of Mr. Albert. Patti, Nancy, Gail, Richie and all of your family , I am truly sorry for your loss. Patti you have become the queen of caregivers. Your family made a difference in the lives of so many. I look forward to seeing both of your parents in heaven. I am praying for all of you. May you feel God’s loving arms around you as He comforts you and gives you the peace that passes all understanding . My love to all of you. Nancy
