It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gloria Lucille (Nainor) Ignar on November 21, 2024, in Wilmington, DE.
A devoted wife, cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Gloria’s life was a testament to the power of love and family. Gloria touched the lives of all who knew her with her genuine kindness and unwavering support. She radiated warmth and compassion wherever she went throughout her entire life.
Gloria was born in 1934 to Thomas Joseph Nainor and Lucille Veronica Della Fera in Newark, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, her dear brother Thomas J. Nainor, Jr. and her beloved husband of 64 years, Joseph L. Ignar, leaving a legacy of strength and love that will endure through her family.
A proud graduate of Caldwell College for Women, where she earned her B.A. in Chemistry in 1956, Gloria had a remarkable intellect and a passion for the sciences. Her loyalty and empathy made her an esteemed figure not only in the academic community but in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. At Seton Hall University, she furthered her education and found true love. It was there that she met her husband, Joe, and the two were united in a beautiful marriage on October 3, 1959. Together, they raised three daughters, instilling in them the same values of kindness and dedication that defined Gloria’s life.
Throughout her years, Gloria was actively engaged in her community, tirelessly volunteering in churches and schools, always eager to lend a helping hand. She was highly regarded for her intelligence, loyalty and as a bottomless fount of genuine sympathy.
Upon retiring, she and her husband embraced life to the fullest, embarking on adventures that took them across the globe, including 23 incredible cruises. Yet, nothing brought her more joy than the family vacations spent together at the Jersey shore. She delighted in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren flourish in school, sports and their many endeavors.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Hall, Dr. Diane Ignar, Carolyn Ignar Torbert, son-in-law Jeffrey Hall as well as their three grandsons, Dr. Michael Hall (Dr. Kathryn Hall), Stephen Hall (Kelsey Hall) and Matthew Torbert, and four beautiful great-grandchildren.
Gloria will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love will continue to inspire us all. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.
