Joseph M. Catania

Joseph M. Catania, 60, of Milford, DE passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Dover, DE.

Joseph was a member of the Ridley High School class of 1982. Described as a Jack-of-All-Trades, Joseph held many positions in his life. He was a landscaper, an inventory manager, and even a chef. But his most important position was that of preacher and ministry outreach coordinator.

Joseph was known for his deep faith in the Lord. He found strength and guidance in his belief, which he carried throughout his life. His loyalty to those he loved was evident in every relationship he nurtured. He was not only a hard and dedicated worker but also someone who took joy in helping the less fortunate. His kind heart led him to quietly and humbly offer support to those in need, leaving a legacy of compassion and service. Joseph selflessly gave his time in support of numerous Christian outreach groups. These include Alcohol and Drug Ministries, volunteering at the Roxbury Holiness Camp, God’s Ways Thrift Store Bible study, Milford Church of Nazarene, the Shepards Office, and the Promise Keepers.

Joseph was a lifelong Philly sports fan, always cheering on his teams with unwavering passion. E-A-G-L-E-S

Though he is no longer with us, the values he instilled in his family and the love he shared will continue to shine in the lives of those who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

Joseph is predeceased by his father, Joseph M. Catania, Sr. He is survived by his mother Marlene Catania of Wilmington, DE; his spouse Milissa Hess of Milford, DE; his daughters Desiree Catania (Kristin Cortese) of Chester County, PA, Danielle Worrilow (Josh) of Boothwyn, PA, and Abigail Catania of Milford, DE; his sister Donna Bachmann of Wilmington, DE; and his brother Michael Catania (Amanda) of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by his three grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.

A visitation with his family will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 followed by a Celebration of Joseph’s Life at 11:00 AM. I will miss you "Philly Joe" The first time we met was @ The Shepherd’s Office. You were serving meals and sharing the word with the less fortunate. I walked 🚶‍♂️ up and we just started witnessing to each other. Not even knowing we were preachers. A lady pulled up and sat down in the " prayer 🙏 chair" outside, publicly next to the curb. It's was an honor for me to assist you with her. It was then we both realized we were preachers for each other as well. The Trinity ❤️ brought you and I together. I will 👀 you again..❤️. Please touch my spirit if you can. Until we meet again I will cherish our Friday Bible studies 🙏. You finished your work here. I am blessed to have you in my life. I will do my best, as the lord allows to care for your family in your temporary absence.. "Pastor Johnny"..🐬
