Margaret Mae Troutman Reeser, age 100, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Stonegates Retirement Community, Greenville, DE.
Margaret was born in May of 1924 in Duncannon, PA. The second of three daughters of DeCosta Bidwell Troutman and Helen Isophene Maguire Troutman.
Margaret married Harold Eugene Reeser in 1942. They celebrated 60 years of marriage. Margaret was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newark, DE for fifty years. She graduated from the University of Delaware and received her BS in 1980. She majored in Family and Child Guidance and minored in Art. She graduated Dean’s list at the age of 56.
Margaret worked as a teacher at Governor Bacon Health Center for seventeen years. From 1978 to 1980 she worked for the City of Newark caring for the elderly. She was CEO of “At Your Service” from 1980 until retirement.
In 2007 she moved to Stonegates and was elected to the Condominium Council as Vice President on May 2013 and served four years. She enjoyed fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, gardening, reading, cooking, painting, crocheting, and playing bocce.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Kay Iredale (William) of Rockland, DE, Lynn Leight of Washington, NC and son Harold Leland Reeser (Rondalyn) of Vero Beach, FL; two granddaughters, Katelyn Thomas and Pamela Clark; seven grandsons, Andrew Iredale, Christopher Thomas, Michael Iredale, Daniel Thomas, Corey Reeser, Derrick Reeser and Joseph Thomas; three great-granddaughters, Abigail Thomas, Julia Iredale, and Ava Iredale; eleven great grandsons, Justin Thomas, Alexander Iredale, Walter Clark IV, Philip Thomas, Noah Thomas, Hudson Thomas, Maxwell Iredale, Zachary Clark, Colton Reeser, Austin Reeser, Logan Reeser; and one great great grandson, Ace Clark; five nieces and eight nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents and sisters Ruth C. Bair of Gainesville, FL and Betty J. Long of Camp Hill, PA, and her husband Harold Reeser in December 2002.
Margaret’s greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great/great great grandchildren. To live to be 100 is unusual in her family. She had a successful and good life. She was very fortunate to have children that cared for her and gave her lots of love. Her dear friend Albert Moore cared for her and made her life at Stonegates much happier.
