Chandra Prakash Lashkari, age 83, passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side on August 20, 2024.
He was born in Karora, India in 1941. He was the youngest of three brothers born to Bhagwad Swaroop and Chameli Gupta who passed away while he was young. He graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Roorkee University in 1964 and moved to Canada after marrying his wife of 58 years, Sharda Lashkari in 1966. He migrated to Canada and then the United States where he received his Master’s in Nuclear Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. He spent most of his life as a nuclear engineer at Stone & Webster, PP&L and PSE&G. He had children in three different countries, Canada, USA and India. He was a businessman, general contractor, realtor, small business owner, and avid investor. He was a founding member and avid participant of the Hindu Temple of Delaware and made Delaware his home for the last 38 years. He spent all his free time trying to help others in any way possible. He lived a simple life and enjoyed many things throughout his lifetime but most of all he enjoyed his wife making his favorite roti, aloo gobi sabji, daal and rice.
He is predeceased by his parents Bhagwad Swaroop (Chameli) Gupta, eldest brother, Suresh Chandra Gupta and his mother-in-law Shanti Devi Gupta. Chandra is survived by his beloved wife, Sharda Lashkari; his sister-in-law, Ram Dulari Gupta, his elder brother, Anand Swaroop (Saroj Kumari) Gupta, his children, Ajaya Kumar, Angela and Vijaya Kumar (Dimple) Lashkari; his grandchildren, Rajan, Preety, Amit, Damini, Ronak, Roshan and Kabir; his nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and his great grandniece and great grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 25, 2024, at 10:15 AM at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. For those unable to attend in-person, the services will be streamed live. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the charity of their choice in the name of Chandra Lashkari.
