Richard Abrams

Richard “Dick” Abrams, age 85, of Blackwood, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

He is remembered, loved, and survived by his children Cheryl, Susan (Ron), Richard, and Michelle (Robert), his 4 grandchildren, Nick, Samantha (Steve), Emily and Olivia and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother Frank, sister Carol (Gitto) and son-in-law, Bruce.

In his 85 years, Richard was an Air Force veteran, an accomplished machinist at Boeing, and the neighborhood car mechanic for all his family and friends. His free time was spent either under a car or in Las Vegas using as many coupons and gaining as many comps as possible. He loved his Ford Fairlane, Maxwell House coffee, Dinty Moore beef stew and those small cans of Pepsi.

With your next look at a classic car, cup of coffee or pull of a slot machine, remember him with fondness.

On behalf of the Boomtowners of South Philly I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of fellow Boomtowner Dick. He did a great job keeping our old cars running while living in our community in South Philly. He was a great person and friend who grew up on Geary Terrace. Dick also attended some of our reunions. We will always remember the good times we shared growing up in South Philly. May he rest in peace.
