Marianne L. Lazorisak

Marianne E. Leonard-Lazorisak passed away on January 9, 2024 surrounded by her family.  Marianne was born and raised in Buffalo, New York to the loving parents of Arthur Leonard (decorated WWII POW Veteran) and Marion (Land) Leonard.  She then went on and raised her three children in Hockessin, Delaware.

Marianne graduated from South Park High School in Buffalo, NY and joined the U.S. Women’s Army Corps to gain her nursing degree where she met the love of her life Nicholas W. Lazorisak, a chemist.  While in the Army she received the Good Conduct Medal.  With the decision to travel to Germany to continue her service or marry, she chose to marry Nick on July 9, 1960 in Buffalo, New York.  They moved to Hockessin, Delaware in 1973 and built their family home, gained friends, and cherished memories.  They raised three children, traveled around the world, were members of many organizations, and volunteered.  She had a successful career as a Nurse working for various hospitals and private doctor offices.

Marianne was a member of the Grand Chapter of Delaware Order of the Eastern Star, Jobs Daughters International Bethel No. 4, Grace Lutheran Church, and a member of the National Association of Physicians’ Nurses.  Marianne enjoyed travelling, her beach house, collecting jewelry from watching QVC, and spending time with her family. Marianne’s notable relatives included: Cousin Charles Augustus Lindbergh II (Aviator) and Great-Grandfather Daniel W. Marianne is predeceased by her parents, Arthur Leonard and Marion (Land) Leonard, loving husband Nicholas W. Lazorisak, and sister Susan J. Janker.  She is survived by her children Karen L. Toulson (Todd), Laura L. Ahtes and Nicholas “John” Lazorisak. Marianne is also survived by her grandchildren: Mallorie L. Toulson, Nicholas W. Lazorisak, Gregory N. Toulson (Kaitlyn), Peyton Jayne Ahtes, Isabelle Lazorisak, and Annalise Lazorisak.  Marianne is also survived by her great-grandchildren:  Zoey L. Shober, Trace Shober, Skyy Shober, Aiden Toulson, and Leia Baiocco as well as her sister Judith Mascho. .

The family will receive family and friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life ceremony at 11:00 a.m.  Both events will be hosted at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, Delaware 19707 with a private burial immediately following at Hockessin Friends Cemetery, Hockessin, Delaware 19707.

Donations in memory of Marianne may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 290 Churchmans Road, New Castle,Delaware 19720.

Funeral Services

The family will receive family and friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life ceremony at 11:00 a.m.  Both events will be hosted at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, Delaware 19707 with a private burial immediately following at Hockessin Friends Cemetery, Hockessin, Delaware 19707.
