Denise Anne Mockbee

Denise Anne Mockbee, age 69, of Millsboro, Delaware, formerly of Estes Park, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 with her family by her side.

Denise was the daughter of the late Clarence Mockbee and Anne (Baccari) Mockbee. She attended the University of Delaware before beginning her career in the travel industry. She started at Rosenbluth Travel but spent most of her career working for United Airlines ending at CWTSatoTravel.

She loved to travel with friends and family and visited many locations throughout the United States and Europe. She said her favorite trips included a family cruise through New England and a cruise of the southern European coast starting in Barcellona, Spain and ending in Venice, Italy.

She enjoyed living many years in Estes Park, Colorado which she used as a starting point for national park adventures with her family every summer. She was only a stones throw from Rocky Mountain National Park which she visited often to admire the beautiful scenery and wildlife. She returned to Delaware several years ago to be closer to her family.

Denise not only will be remembered for her love of travel and animals but also for her kindness and sharp wit; she could always find something funny to say in any situation. Also, no one will forget her enthusiasm for preparing dishes for get togethers using recipes with ‘interesting’ ingredient substitutions; it was always a surprise.

Denise is preceded in death by her brother Stephen Mockbee and nephew Michael Kohler as well as her beloved pets Clay and Jake. She is survived by sisters: Joan Murray and her partner Gordon Grimes of Lewes, DE; Vickie Buckles of Millsboro, DE; Kim Faucette and her husband Leo Faucette of Wilmington, DE; her sister-in-law Maria Mockbee of Chadds Ford, PA; ‘sister-friend’ Ellen Butz of Millsboro, DE; and six nieces and nephews and their growing families, Geoffrey Mockbee, David Murray, Michelle Mockbee, Matthew Kohler, Teddy Mockbee and Gabrielle Faucette. She also had many other special relatives and friends both near and far.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held after the new year in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, Georgetown, DE; National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Delaware Chapter or National Parks Conservation Association.
