Robert Richard Reen

Robert Richard Reen passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the age of 79, at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.

Born in 1944, Bob grew up in Brighton, Massachusetts, graduating from St. Columbkille High School and Lowell Technological Institute. He later settled in Wilmington, Delaware, where he started a family, traveled the world while advancing his career in the polyurethane division of Imperial Chemical Industries, and later became an insurance agent.

Bob was an avid Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Eagles fan, a lover of Labrador retrievers and a car and jeep enthusiast. He spent several years as a swim official and board member of the Brandywine YMCA and enjoyed attending a variety of sporting events, especially swim meets and lacrosse games to support and cheer for his two sons.

A dedicated and loving husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife Pamela, two sons Robert (Amanda) and Patrick (Randi), grandson Bennett, stepdaughter Kelley Perkins (Marc), stepsons Scott Perkins (Jessica) and Todd Perkins (Kristina), brother in-law and wife William and Anne Rourke, and niece Suzanne Rourke. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Kathleen.

 

Funeral Services

Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023. A private burial ceremony for family will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to the Brandywine Valley SPCA.
