Philip Crichton lit a candle and writes,
I'm deeply saddened by Doris' passing. I came to Pilot in it's second year when the student body jumped 60%, from 5 to 8 at Christ Church. I was among the 4 of the first graduating class at Bancroft Parkway. Doris took on and taught that class herself. When I invited her to my college graduation, I was delighted she came. I credit her with the grounding of my success in life. True success in life is measured in what you leave behind in the benefit of others. By that measure, Doris' success is incalculable. She leaves a legacy that will grow for generations. Good bye Doris, I an deeply happy for having known you and saddened in equal measure that you have gone. Thank you, Doris.

Sadly, I missed Doris's passing. I spoke with her months ago about having lunch again. She didn't feel up to it at that time. I promised I would call again. Unfortunately, my wife passed away in the interim and months passed before trying to reach Doris again. Doris gave me an opportunity to be a teacher, coach, administrator and counselor for many young children. These were great young years in my life, and I will always remember her for her guidance. I cannot express my sadness when I think of her. I shall always miss her. God Bless !
