Dorothy “Dottie” B. Dzuris

Dorothy “Dottie” B. Dzuris, 89, of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

Born in Nanticoke, PA, to the late Sophia Shandro, Dottie graduated from Nanticoke High School where she met her beloved high school sweetheart, John L. Dzuris.  Shortly after marriage Dottie and John moved to Wilmington, DE where they began their careers at the DuPont Company.  Dottie was a secretary in the Plastics Division at Chestnut Run.

After several moves, Dottie and John settled in Hockessin, DE.  Dottie loved her beautiful home and took delight in being a homemaker, baking the best pies and other delicious desserts and using her secretarial skills to manage the household.  Dottie and John enjoyed hosting many parties in their lovely home with friends through the years.  After a day of work at DuPont, Dottie looked forward to returning home to enjoy a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres with John before dinner and spending time with their dachshund, Bermuda Max’l.

During the summer, trips to the Jersey shore with friends, spending time on the beach and dining in the evening was always an enjoyable seaside getaway.  For vacations, Dottie and John had fun traveling, enjoying each place as much as the last.   One of Dottie’s favorite things to do was having Saturday-night-dinner dates with John at various restaurants and appreciating their time together.

Dottie is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, and friend of 73 years, John L. Dzuris. John would like to thank Bayada Hospice and Eleanor for their selfless care of Dottie in recent months.

I was honored to know you both in Dupont since the 1960's .... and in TRL retirees monthly lunches in the past 20 yrs. Your wonderful spirits complemented each other in a marriage made in heavens. Dottie now in God's realm is hurting no more. And your dedicated medical care & attention for her (in her years of decline) is exemplary beyond human measure.
