Walter P. Norris

Walter Paul Norris Sr., age 72, of Wilmington, Delaware, formally of Middletown, DE, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 20th at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Walter served 30 years honorably in the Delaware Air National Guard, U.S. Air Force and Delaware Army National Guard.  During his time in the military, he served as the Retention Office Manager, Career and Education Manager and Family Support Coordinator.  Not one to sit around he continued working first for the U.S. Postal Service and then officially retired after 10 years from Lowes.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents Edsel F. Norris, Sr. and Pauline V. Norris and brother Edsel F. Norris, Jr.

Walter is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane; son, Walter (Bud) Norris, Jr., daughter, Jennifer Norris; grandchildren, William Norris, his fiancé Alexa and Benjamin Norris, brother David Norris, his wife Debbie and his three nieces and their spouses.

Funeral Services

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 26th at 11:00 AM at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803.  There will be a viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.

    Diane, I am very sorry to see Walt’s picture in the paper. I remember when he first met you those 50 years ago at the Glasgow Skating Rink. Walt use to be a sitter for the Beacher kids and we put him through the wringer. Probably what made him a great Dad. I am so sorry for your loss.
