Rosemary H. Cardinal

Rosemary H. Cardinal, of Wilmington, DE, age 86, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023 in Christiana Hospital.

Rosemary was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, daughter of the late John Ernest and Vernette (Heinsen) Holderried.

She graduated from St. Mary’s High School as Valedictorian in 1955 and earned her BA in Chemistry from Marquette University in 1959. Rosemary then began a brief career with E. I. DuPont de Nemours, Experimental Station, where she met her husband of 62 years, Anthony “Tony”.

Rosemary was dedicated to her family and a relentless caretaker of her son, Andy.

Rosemary was an 8 year Board member of the Children’s and Family Services of DE, 1986-1994. She was a member of the Greenville Country Club where she served as Grounds Committee Chair and member of the Social Committee. She also participated in league tennis and played platform tennis.

She was an avid reader and her creative side was boundless: painting, flower arranging & poetry were some of her favorites. She also loved travel, snorkeling, gardening and horses.

True to her form, she was always caring of others, ever so sweet and happy, always smiling and laughing until the end.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Anthony J; Son, Andrew J; and brother John Holderried. Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Ann (Dan) Kent.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August4, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Rd., Greenville, DE 19807. There will be a visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
