David M. McKelvey, Sr.

David M. McKelvey, Sr., age 59, was born in October of 1963, and passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023.

He was predeceased by his parents Janet C. (Mihaly) and Ronald W. McKelvey. He is survived by his children: Heather (Shane), Emilee (Peter) and David Jr.; grandchildren Paige, Abigail, Michaela, Harper and Rhys and his siblings Bill (Norma), Jack (Jennifer), and Debbie (Doug). He is also survived by his Aunt Dorothy Herman, whom he adored, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dave attended St Helena’s School, and received his diploma from Groves High School Class of 1984. He was employed with Speakman Company until retiring! Dave was a lifelong member of Claymont Fire Company, and a member of Citizens Hose Company of Smyrna. He was a member of FOE #74, and the Police and Fire Rod and Gun Club. Dave loved collectible trucks, the Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR, and the Phillies. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reminiscing about memories, roller coasters, and spending time in Cape May, NJ.

Funeral Services

A Memorial Service will be held at Claymont Fire Company on August 12, 2023 at 1pm. Dave will be laid to rest with his parents at All Saints Cemetery, burial will be private.

    I’m so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing we worked together at speakman plumbing for years . Dave was a funny guy when we would talk he would always talk about his family and parents and Cape May .
