Sandra Elaine Wix

Sandra Elaine Wix died in the early morning hours of May 27th surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Sandy led a life marked by hard work and dedication. After graduating from PS DuPont High School and completing a year of college she embarked on the true love of her life, motherhood. She raised four children as a single parent while maintaining an exemplary career with the United States Postal Service.

One of her proudest accomplishments was overcoming her almost lifelong addiction to cigarettes, a feat realized through her trademark determination and commitment to caring for her family. With that out of the way she could retire, and turn her attention squarely towards helping raise her grandchildren, and later great-grandchildren, who have all learned from her invaluable lessons about kindness, generosity, bargain hunting and perseverance. She was the burning center of her family’s heart, and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to benefit from her selfless deeds and tremendously loving hugs.

She is survived by her children Steve Dill, Ken Dill, Karen Coverdale Brown and Lisa Dill, grandchildren Nikki, Alex, Ashley, Corri and Megan, great-grandchildren Nicholas, Chloe, Cambria, and Teagan, her sister Dorothy and brother-in-law Isles, nieces Jennifer, Kristin, and Cindy.
