Sarah S. Kitts

Our cherished mother, wife, aunt, and grandmother Sarah S. Kitts (Summers) of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully on June 1^st, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her adoring husband, Richard, after 57 years of marriage, her beloved sisters Rosemary Rabbitt & Patsy Curry and her brother Jack Summers.

Sarah is survived by her son Rick Kitts (Elsa), their children Andrew, Ava and Sophia and her daughter Susan Jamison (Randy) and their children, Samantha, Christopher, Vincent & Paige as well as many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised by her parents Raymond & Mary Summers in West Philadelphia, Sarah was a proud graduate of West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School. After meeting & marrying Richard, they moved to Wilmington to raise their family. Sarah retired from the State of Delaware where she enjoyed working as a Case Manager for the Delaware Judicial system.

Sarah loved sharing her lifelong appreciation of stitchery, needlework, sewing, and ceramics. She was always crafting something new and would juggle multiple projects at once. Eternally compassionate and giving, she used her talents to create & donate beautiful prayer shawls to her Church ministry and often gave of her time to other Ministries such as the Orphan Grain Train & The Emmanuel Dining Room in Wilmington.

She will be deeply missed by her family & friends who are comforted by their memories and knowledge that she is now at home and at peace.

Funeral Services

Friends may call upon the family on Friday, June 9th, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington DE 19803. A Funeral service will be held following the viewing.
