Andrew Mark Ribeiro, age 35, left the trials of this earth and entered into his eternal home with Jesus Christ his Savior, on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
He will be deeply missed by his family who loved him throughout the years, even as he was plagued by the ravages of the mental illness of schizophrenia in the later years of his life. This disease was difficult for the family, but most of all for our Andrew.
Andrew loved the arts! He graduated from The Academy of Culinary Arts (Atlantic Community College) in NJ in 2008, and delighted our family gatherings often with his creative culinary dishes. His monkey bread was famous! Not only did Andy love eating and making food, but he also was a self-taught pianist, especially loving old hymns and classical pieces he arranged himself. Andrew also loved fashion and dogs, even insisting our dog Louie was named after Louis Vuitton! (He was not). Andy was a talented artist as well and he particularly liked the technique of pen and ink, as well as watercolors.
As a young child, he was the final piece that God had arranged to complete our family puzzle. He was adopted at birth and his arrival was a surprise! What a gift, to come home from school to a new baby brother! Andy was adored, spoiled and pampered. He was full of laughter and smiles. He loved his Disney movies as a child, with an obsessive sort of love, watching the 101 Dalmatians, Bambi and Fantasia ad nauseam.
How we will miss his laughter! His smile! His joy in being among his family and devouring our sweets! The sweetest thing in his life, however, was Jesus. Andrew clung to his need for a Savior even as his body failed him, and because of his faith in Jesus, we are comforted that his pain on earth is over. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, excited about heaven and all of its glory. We are thanking God for this reality, even as we weep with broken hearts.
He is survived by his beloved family ~ Mother, Susan Ribeiro of Perkiomenville, PA; Father, David Ribeiro of São José do Rio Pardo, Brazil; Siblings, Paul Ribeiro of Charleston, SC; Rebecca Lacock (Steven) of Perkiomenville, PA; Margie Comanda (Joel) of Kennett Square, PA; Rachel Elsenheimer (Aric) of Albuquerque, NM; Julie Ribeiro of Wilmington, DE: and Joshua Ribeiro of Albuquerque, NM. Also grieving his death are his nephews Eliot, Simon, and Jesse Comanda, Ethan Edinburg, Aidan Lacock, Luke Ribeiro, Tug and Robin Elsenheimer; and his nieces, Nora and Bianca Comanda, Isabel and Ava Ribeiro, and Evelyn Lacock.
We are sad to say goodbye but are comforted by one of Andy’s favorite Scripture passages:
Psalm 103:1-4 ~ Praise the Lord, Oh my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits – Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.
