Joan McLaughlin

Joan C. McLaughlin, our beloved “Aunt Joan” passed away on April 14, 2023 after a brief illness.

Born in 1941 in Wilmington, DE, one of seven children to Katherine and William McLaughlin. A graduate of St. Elizabeth High School, she enjoyed a successful career with Diamond State Telephone, Bell Atlantic and Verizon.  Retiring early, she volunteered with the Telephone Pioneers, United Way and her church, St. Helena’s. Days spent caring for her great nephews Cullen and Brayden McLaughlin along with the Neff and Rowland children brought her great joy.

Known as “Aunt Joan” to more than those connected by DNA.  Family, friends and her church community were the center of her life. Her grace, kindness and unconditional love extended far and wide. If you were fortunate enough to know her, your life was blessed.

Survived by her brothers Stewart and William McLaughlin, and her beloved nieces and nephews. Leon H. Ryan (Candy), Mary Roth (Michael) Brian Mclaughlin (Roci), Kim McLaughlin, Kevin McLaughlin (Rachel), Jill McLaughlin, Sean McLaughlin (Brittney), Shannon Abel (Jayson), Dan Morse (Julia) and Zach & Mitchell Love.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, sisters Patricia Lewis, Barbara Regener, Linda Kegley and brother Eugene McLaughlin.  Brother in-law Eugene Regener, sister-in-law’s Patricia McLaughlin and Marge McLaughlin, and nephews Timothy and Eugene Regener.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Helena’s Catholic Church, Wilmington, DE.
